The Pirates of Penzance New York Theatre reviews
Torn - Great Show, bad venue
Despite a multitude of technical difficulties, 'The Pirates of Penzance's show was really fabulous. There were issues with the venue even before the show started. The orchestra pit, broken and had to be open, was to be closed and seated with ticket holders. Reseating those ticketed individuals had to be done. Because the pit was open, 'The Pirates of Penzance' had to perform with a 'safety tape' across the front of the stage. The monitors on stage did not get turned on until literally 4 minutes before the end of the show when the interactive portion came. This meant he could not communicate with the audience, resulting in a one-way conversation. The staff of Broward Center seemed very unprofessional and unprepared. I question whether any sound check was done at all.'
